Bernard was one of the kindest and most pleasant bowlers I’ve ever had chance to meet and play alongside for the last few years. A formidable opponent, who never quit and would always be supporting and offer his guidance to the younger crop of players we have at Alford.

Lifting the Challenge Cup in 2019 was of great satisfaction, knowing we were doing it for Bernard and his Friend John Garrett who we lost not too long ago aswell.

Any future games I play on Alford Hall, I will always remember the encouragement Bernard would offer in a time of need, whether it was to pull a chalk out of nothing and keep fighting, or get that last chalk to get over the line.

A true legend of the game, and a gentleman who will be sorely missed.
